Posted: February 11, 2020

John Petersen '02, along with his five teammates, made history in December as the first people ever to row across Drake Passage to Antarctica. The 12-day voyage was marked by icy waters, freezing temperatures, high winds, and 50-foot waves in one of the world's most dangerous sections of ocean. In reaching their destination, John and his temmates established nine world records.

A former member of the rowing team at Yale University, John and his family live in Oakland where he serves as Principal of KIPP Bridge Academy.
